Pediatric rehab follow up and Cows and sheep

Well Ian had his last appointment with the pediatric rehab doctor and has been discharged from him! That means he considers Ian all caught up to his real age from the prematurity! yea! And language wise he thinks he is at a 24 month level which is even better. The physical things like climbing stairs etc will come in time but at least Ian's trying to do them even if his legs are short and prevent him from actually doing it. On the way to the doctor we stopped at Stew Leonards (a special grocery store here in Danbury) to see the sheep and cows. Its tough to take a good picture of Ian when its just he and I. But you get the picture. He loved seeing a real live cows and sheep and couldn't stop baaa-ing.

Potty time!

Ian has shown an interst in the bathroom - why do Mommy and Daddy use it, what do they do in there, why don't we wear diapers etc etc. so I had a coupon for Babies R Us and figured that it was time to introduce the idea of his very own potty. This morning while Daddy was getting ready Ian started getting used to it. Notice the reading material - daddy's starting him young with Trout Magazine. He hasn't obviously used it yet - we are just getting him used to the idea that there is a special potty he can use. Lately he's been bringing me his diapers to change him when he needs it - both wet and dirty. He doesn't like a dirty diaper to stay on very long. I take that as a good sign. he was very happy that the potty was "blu" but probably would have preferred "Geen" his favorite color. On a side note - he knows most colors - today at baby gym he identified the hulla hoops (blue, green, yellow and red).

Easter happenings

Today went by pretty quick. We went to 10 AM Mass and when we got home the Easter Bunny had made a quick stop. Ian's basket was overflowing. He also hid some eggs filled with puffs and cheerios around the house (note to next year's bunny- that makes for quite a mess for Mommy to pick up with the little guy breaks them open on her rug). After being underwhelmed by the new train set (Dada liked it thought) and taking a four hour nap Ian did some light yard work with his new shovel and rake.

The Bunny Train

Ian met the Easter Bunny on the Bunny train again at the Danbury Railway Museum. He also picked out a new Thomas train. And didn't let go of it the whole ride. Again - he showed no fear of large holiday rabbits - and walked right up and wanted to cuddle the Easter Bunny. He also loved the larger than life Thomas inside.

Words left and right

Ian is learning words left and right lately. On Friday on the drive he learned tunnel and then said it at every opportunity for the family on Saturday. He knew this morning that Thomas went into a tunnel and said it again without me asking - so he understands the concept of a tunnel as well as being able to say it clear as day. The also learned tusks, Kate, Mike, and started to say Hippo this weekend. Today we've noticed color, desk, chair, taco (its what we had for dinner), spam (we went to the grocery store and Steven was just reading off labels), hammer and pillow. I can't keep count of how many words he knows. And he will say a couple together to make a sentence - usually including Dadda in it - like Dadda tunnel train. Or Dadda bath duck. The last one was just Dadda gaga hahaha (don't know what that one was but he thought it was really funny).

Ian's weekend in DC

Here is a quick recap - Hippos, Tunnels, Trains, Dinos, Sticks... and now we are unpacking.

New Desk

A person from the tennis club gave Ian this desk - I think it is the same as Lucas' isn't it?
