Babies Babies

So it seems like babies are coming out of the woodwork everywhere. My friend Katiana just had her second this morning - a boy - and we found out other friends of ours are pregnant with their first. Very exciting - but a lot of pressure here too! It seems like everyone then looks at us and asks, when are you having kids! Not to pressure us or anything... in due time people - all in due time!

Hello Old Man Winter

Can you believe that a few weeks ago it was springlike out? My flowers were getting confused and starting to bud. But today the weatherman told us it was 5 degrees out this morning with a windchill about -15. Yikes! No snow - which is probably good. It is more than likely too cold to snow. Tomorrow is supposed to be warmer but I'm glad today that I have a beef stew in the crockpot so that when we get home we don't have to go anywhere else and can just stay inside. Steven and I might go do some hiking with our new hiking boots that we got. But only if its above 30!

Work work work

This week is going by fast - I have tons to do for work. We have one of our staff members in town today and tomorrow before she goes up to UConn to start the new AEPhi group there. I've been working with her on plans for the whole semester - there was a lot to do! Tomorrow we get her packed up to leave and I have some time to do my other work. Finally! I'm exausted after traveling this weekend. Oh well - guess that is what I get for volunteering to go do that president's academy! But it was fun - just the sort of stuff I like to do. Steven is working with his hand tools and making a frame for a picture we got over the summer on our vacation for the office room. It is turning out great and he is having fun really doing the woodworking thing from scratch.

Back!

I was a little concerned yesterday morning when I woke up in Ohio and it was snowing. But by the mid afternoon the snow had stopped and when I got to the airport I was able to get on an earlier flight and arrived in NYC before I was even scheduled to leave Ohio originally! Nice to get home three hours early. Just in time to watch the football game (well in between switching over to the Austrailan Open) - sorry Colleen and Dad - those last two minutes weren't great! Now I have to get a lot done at work - catching up on emails and planning projects. I signed up for Pilates again - it begins on Feb 5th. So I have a few weeks to get back into practice!

Leaving for Ohio today

I am going to Oxford Ohio for a leadership conference with Beta Theta Pi Fraternity today. I have done a lot of volunteer stuff with them and I enjoy what they do. They are really ahead of the curve with leadership development and when I look at the list of people they have facilitating I am impressed that they consider me up in their league! Steven will be a bachelor this weekend but I am sure he will end up going out for Indian food at some point with the neighbors! Next week is a busy week around here as well - I get back Sunday night and we have our staff member who is starting the new AEPhi group at UConn coming Monday to Wednesday before she heads up there to begin work. Not sure when I will have the time to put anything together for her - but I guess that is what Monday morning is for!

Non- mouse free zone

So I think 14 Elgin Ave is no longer a mouse free zone - this morning after tennis I went home for a shower and when I was leaving again there was this little brown blob by my car. It turned out to be a mouse. I get such a yicky feeling even thinking about mice that to have to step around it to get to the car was so gross. It was sort of smushed and bloody - so maybe a cat brought it to the driveway and I ran over it not seeing it. But - now that I've seen a mouse around there is no guarentee that their aren't others. Steven has orders to remove it from the driveway before I get home.

Weekend Update

So all it seemed to do here this weekend was rain! It is still gross out today- foggy and misty and cold. Friday we went to the mall to use our gift cards from Christmas. Steven says I made out like a bandit. He didn't find anything he really wanted at the music store, so he traded in his gift card for an iTunes card that I can use. Then we went to use my Bed Bath and Beyond card that his parents gave me and they were having unbelievable sales. There were buy two get two free deals, 3 for $5 deals, and all for $1 deals. I eneded up with a huge bagful of creams, lotions, shampoos, bath sprays and sponges. And the funniest thing was that the woman ringing me up kept saying well if you go back to that table you can get another thing for free. That must have happened three times. Steven was very patient with me. Then we went to EMS and I got a winter hat for $5. Our new plans are to start hiking in the winter and so on Saturday we went and bought hiking boots and are getting wet weather clothes to wear over our clothes so we can go out in the rain and snow. We are preparing for our future trip to Yellowstone - hopefully that will be in the next year. Then yesterday Steven got called into work because the girl that works called and said she wouldn't be there. I had a hair appointment and then went food shopping. With him at work I was very productive and prepared a couple meals to freeze for the week. I leave for Ohio on Thursday and need to keep Stgermain in the style he's accustomed!

Busy Week

I had the AEPhi staff in all week for staff training and have literally not been able to do anything else all week long. Emails have hardly been touched and I have a pile of mail on my desk to sort through. It was a pretty good week - I always get stressed out that I am not doing everything that I really should/can be doing with them. But we got through it and they are all off on their ways to home and chapter visits. I get to catch up now! This weekend we are going to go hiking again. That was our deal with ourselves - as long as the weather is nice Steven and I are going to get outside and enjoy it.

Is it spring?

The weathermen have been predicting a record high today - right now the sun is struggling to come out and the thermostat in the kitchen says its 65 degrees outside. Geez! But, like New England always does, wait a couple days and it will be 40 degrees colder and snowing! So this afternoon we will probably get out and about - Steven has a post-holiday lunch with some of the tennis guys at noon and I have some work to do. Later on when its really warm we'll go out walking somewhere. Oh - and in the backyard my parsley is doing fine and I have some flowers budding on a couple plants - won't they be in for a shock when the weather changes!

2007 already

I'm still getting used to writing 2007 in dates - it will take a few weeks! Things are going pretty much like normal around here. I'm trying to play more tennis which is actually happening - I played yesterday and will play again this afternoon. I don't start traveling for a few weeks. Then it will be about once a month.

So - the funniest part about 2007 so far is that our neighbor Peter, found out he is alergic to dairy. That puts a damper to the cheese parties he and Steven had together. It was so sad to have him come over the other night to give us the cheese in his fridge because he can't eat it!

Well - next week should be a busy one for me - the staff is coming in for some training and I'll be tied up from Sunday night to Thursday afternoon. That should be fun.
