Ian is such a little guy - seeing him next to other babies at daycare puts that into perspective for me. There is a five month old baby that is bigger than he is! That's ok - it means he still fits into clothes from months ago. We are in the strange in between stage between six month clothes and nine month clothes. Today he has on a six month outfit but the pants ride up a bit when he flexes his legs. Monday he had on a nine month outfit and the pants were so big they got rolled up three times. That fifth tooth is just about through the gums. Ian likes having his teeth brushed. It must feel good on the gums. He is also grinding his teeth together. It makes a very unpleasant sound and he gets mad when I stop him from doing it. He was in a GREAT mood yesterday when he woke up - he played and laughed and went in and woke Daddy up at 7:30 so Mommy could get ready for work. Then he was asleep by 8:30 for his morning nap. Today was another story. He woke up at 5 am and started wimpering. I tried to put him off but he only got louder and so I went in to feed him. He ate, I changed him, he ate again and I put him in the crib with a toy at 5:30 to get a little more sleep - he wasn't having it. Daddy went and got him a little before six and he came and snuggled with Mommy for a few minutes before demanding breakfast. Then the little stinker was asleep in his chair by 6:50 and took over an hour nap before waking for a quick snack before leaving by 8:30. When we got to daycare this morning he was still sleepy and not as talkative as usual. But I put him next to a toy and he went to town with those little fingers getting all busy.
Things Ian likes now - faces (he loves to touch faces - and constantly rubs my face while nursing), dancing and music, standing and bouncing, looking out windows, his pink pig on his car seat (the only toy he can reach and he hangs onto it while driving - its funny to watch him hold it when you go around a corner), Baby Beluga (he can listen to it over and over), sitting and grunting at a toy.

After eating the floor. .. . .
This is my second post to the blog since Ian started talking. He has now become interested in eating linoleum (yes the floor was clean and no we really didn't let him eat the floor). After being denied the chance to lick and slobber on the floor he was suprizingly in a good mood as the picture shows.

Doctor update
The earache is gone - the cough must just be a little cold - he's a little stuffy too. Poor kid got woken up from a good nap to go to the doctor. He's asleep again - just fell asleep at 3:30. I did have them weigh him while we were there out of curosity - he was 13 pounds 15.5 ounces with clothes on! So its a little less that that, but his clothes were light so I don't think it was that much different. Geez- not even 14 pounds yet...
Eight months!
Ian is doing great! Yesterday he looked like a big boy before heading off to daycare. He likes to dress like his Daddy in collared shirts. We noticed he got a bit of a cough yesterday and this morning its gotten steadier. I called the doctor;s and it could be the earache hasn't completely gone away so we are going in at noon time for a check on it. Of course Mr. Stinky decided to fall asleep at 11 after fussing on and off all morning. Thanks Ian. Big things that Ian's doing now that he's eight months - three meals a day of big boy food. He didn't like the pureed chicken we tried last night - absolutely HATED it. He even ate the peas willingly and he doesn't like those much either. Ian likes being outside. I think he likes the wind on his face. He also likes his plastic rings - any rings and he loves them. Clanging them together, eating them, throwing them. He's happy when he has his rings. That is about it right now - I hear him coughing and need to go check...

We do have a picture
Weekend
Ian and Mommy went to Massachusetts for the weekend - well Saturday to Sunday - by our selves. Daddy went fishing and had to work Sunday night and we were going to do stuff for Colleen's wedding. All would have been fine if I had remembered the milk - but just past Waterbury I realized that in the haste to leave Ian's milk was sitting in the fridge. Not a big deal but that meant he had to stay with me out and about all day because I was his meal ticket as Grampy said. So instead of playing with the Big Guy he went dress shopping with the girls. He was a big flirt though and was smiling at everyone. He didn't melt down even though he was TIRED. He saved that for the ride home on Sunday - the last half an hour he screamed to get out of the car seat. We got home by 3:45 and he played with Daddy. He was asleep by 5:15, woke up from throwing up, had to have his crib changed, and then was asleep by 7 pm. He is still tired this morning but it was more of our normal routine. No pictures as we forgot the camera.

Great Day
Thursday was Mommy's day home with me and it was great! I did wake up at 4:45 and didn't want to go back to sleep - but then I took a nap from 6:30-7:30. Go figure. I was ready for another nap at 9:50 - after my bloody nose though. from all the sniffling and blowing it got bloody - nothing to worry about as Mommy called the doctor for advice. After a two and a half hour nap - I was good to go for lunch then PT. Carole the lady that comes to the house said I am doing amazing. We went from there to meet my baby friends and their moms for a walk in the park. I got a little hot because Mommy overdressed me. I conked out on the car ride home but then perked up to practice my latest move - sitting. Which is getting better and better! You may notice the big scrape over my nose - I've taken to rubbing my head when I am tired and when my fingernails are even the slightest long I draw blood. Mommy now cuts them when I am awake because its too hard to do them asleep. She's lucky to get one or two before I am squirming to get away. In bed by 7 without much fussing at all - what a great day!

Ian's fussy weekend
So Mummy took Ian to the doctor on Friday after he woke up coughing like a seal. Turned out that he had an ear infection on top of his cold. It's not RSV but we are using the nebulizer again and he has some medicine for his ear. We thought that by today he'd be better. Nope. All morning he has cried and wanted to be held. Its only 10:30 and Daddy and I feel exhausted. I'm sick too and you know that I must feel yucky because yesterday afternoon I took a nap - I never take naps. Today I'm better but still ache all over and have a stuffed up nose. Ian's been so fussy that Daddy and I got him a treat at the market yesterday. Here he is trying his first cracker - he got more of it all over him but he works his hands really well and swung it around and looked at it for a while. He's also rolling over in his crib and last night we found him asleep on his tummy. We would have left him but he has been so stuffed up that we flipped him over just to be careful.

Its warming up... but you couldn't tell by looking at me
I still have tons of winter clothes that Ian hasn't worn. He is just into nine month clothes and they are still too big for him. Here is the little guy modeling in his car seat before school yesterday. Auntie Colleen - the Maine hat still fits! Remember when it was huge on him! Ian has a little stuffy nose today - he slept until 7, woke up, ate, had his nose cleaned out and then ate again before going back to sleep at 8.

Weight Check
At Ian's six month appointment Daddy told the doctor that Mummy was worried Ian wsan't gaining enough weight. So they schedueled this visit today to check on him. He was 13 pounds 9 and a half ounces - up from 12 pounds 12 and a half ounces at the beginning of March. The doctor said not to worry - he's gaining weight and developing normally - the four teeth that have come in confirm that! We just have a little guy on our hands!

Getting warmer
There aren't many pictures this week since Mummy was away. But this morning instead of having his Bundle Me in the car seat he wore his Paddington Bear hat and coat. Doesn't he look happy? He's getting big - and happy. We've given up the pacifier completely. It was a rough few days last week but today he really hasn't seemed to miss it. Let me tell you though I almost gave in on Thursday. Ian's eating more too - he is finishing a whole container of fruit or veggies with his cereal. We tried some of the meat in a jar today and he really didn't like it. Daddy can get Ian laughing big belly laughs - its funny to watch. He still likes to go to bed on the early side and was asleep by 7:20 tonight. His sitting up has gotten better - still not on his own but much more steady. Ian likes to look out the window and watches people walk by. He likes being outside and looks around at everything. Yesterday we picked him a little flower and he smushed it - oh well - he'll probably be into all my plants this summer anyway!

Mommy's back
Of course there were no updates while I was away. Daddy took very good care of Ian and they had a great day and a half - I left early Friday morning and just got back. As I catch up we will update you on the latest Ian news. Biggest thing to know though- this kid is moving! He rolls all around... we are in trouble!
