Crazy I-Man

Bathtime got a little crazy yesterday as you can tell. He had swimming in the morning so I think he was trying out his moves in the tub. Poor Daddy should have taken a bath with Ian after all was said and done. Then this morning Ian wanted to pick out his own clothes. I really need to just put the Santa sweater away. He also picked out his jjjjjsss as he calls them and when I turned around from the computer he had gotten into his diaper bag and grabbed his hat and put it on his head. Because it went with he sweater who could resist?

18 month stats

Ian's right on track with all aspects of development, maybe even a little ahead in places, but he's still on the small side - 17 pounds 9 ounces and 30 1/4 inches tall, and no growth in his head circumference. So - like I thought - Dr. Cohen is referring us to a specialist just to be on the safe side and rule out any growth hormone deficiencies. I don't think there is a problem - we just have a little guy. Luckily we don't have to go far - there is a doctor at Danbury Hospital that can see him.

Ian's weekend update

We went to Grammy and Grampy's this past weekend for Noah's first birthday on Saturday and just a general visit since we haven't been there in a while. While there we got to visit with Lucas and Aine (they have pictures we don't), play trains and sit on an Elmo Chair (Mommy is going to have to get one for Ian he loved it so much), see Colleen and Ken's new house (and do a test run on their stairs for them), and play with Noah at his birthday party (well - ok - he wanted to take Noah's newly opened toys). Daddy stayed in CT and worked on trim in the dining room and living room all weekend. It will look great when its done.

Ian checking out Noah's truck to make sure it works.

Another house, another set of stairs to check out Hey - this time Ian didn't spit up on Uncle Kenny! Progress!
Don't mind me - I'll just test out Noah's new wagon... Hmmmm... wonder what's in that bag? Hurry up Noah...
Auntie Colleen had some good bonding time with the little guy (while Grampy sneaks some Cheerios on the couch)Hey- look at my tummy - who are you calling little?
Noah to Ian "Dude - stop flashing everyone."
The look of amazement at the tool set Noah received (similar to the look of amazement to meet BoBo Kitty- "A cat in real life." and even a meow out of the little guy).

Baa Baa Baa

I was serenaded today while Ian tried to take a nap with an hour of Ba Ba Black Sheep - or BAAAA BAAAA BAAA in Ian - speak. why does it take an hour to finally take a nap? He could have been half done his nap by then. Turns out he needed to be changed, which I did, and put him back in the crib, upset, and then sleep ensued. This whole routine started at 11 AM and he woke up about 3:15 pm. The day was shot at that point. I got the singing on video but haven't downloaded it yet from the video camera. You could hear him singing in the kitchen loud and clear. I finally figured out too that he could see his sheep from his barn set on the floor from his crib and wouldn't go to bed without it. ah - the things this kid takes to sleep - tonight its three blankets, a stuffed dog and his yellow duckie blankie (seen here when he was a lot younger).

Bathtime craziness

The aftermath of Ian's bath tonight...

A typical Thursday

At the end of the day the house typically is a wreck with toys everywhere. Rather than fight a loosing battle I wait until the end of the day to pick things up and we start all over again the next day. At least Ian knows where his things go and he is typically pretty good at wanting things in their places (I think he gets that from me). His vocabulary has started exploding - mostly in the way of what something says (the video is of him saying Cock-a-doodle-do for the rooster). He will alternate between duck and a clicking noise for duck, pigs make the same clicking noise, sticks go bab bab bab (don't ask me where he got that one) and he calls all trains Thomas. His comprehension is amazing - I can say "Ian choose a book and bring it to Daddy" and he runs over to where ever his books are, takes one and finds Daddy where ever he is to get him to read it. he also knows that B-A-T-H means bathtime. So I guess we can't spell that anymore. He knows that one finger means 1 of something. And he loves Elmo - he says his name with such affection its really funny to hear. Eating has been hot and cold. Last night were quesidilla and he loved his little portion, the turkey chili the night before wasn't a hit. Basically when he doesn't like something he indicates he wants yougut. We now sign more, eat, book, please, thank you and star. He knows that he goes swimming and when you ask him about it he kicks his feet and "splashes" his arms. To take a nap or go to bed he needs one of his animals and a big blanket to wrap up in. He could care less about the taggy blankets now. Well - that's it from here - he's down for a nap and I've got work to do!

Daddy's Little Helper

Ian likes to follow Daddy around with his tools trying to help with household chores. The other day he helped him change a doorknob, last night he helped change a light. In Ian's words "DADA liiiii" which comes across as screaming dada's name while pointing to the lights and saying liiiiiii.... we have a lot of words and like to use them... as anyone who has spoken to Ian on the phone can confirm.

Mr. Fix it

The death of the blue crayon

From today - poor crayons don't stand a chance with Mr. Ian. And he gets very upset when they are broken and doesn't understand why I can't fix it.

Tiny Tim

I was gone all weekend for work - hence no posts. Last night while reading books Ian noticed that the scarecrow in one story has a scarf - he insisted it was a snake and we had to show him what a scarf was. That was how he ended up making such a fashion statement last night with Mommy's scarf. He really likes putting on clothes and hates it when you take them off - makes it quite tough for diaper changes when you have to remove pants and he gets mad.
