Ian's newest thing

So Ian has had a pretty good week - other than the lack of napping at daycare on Monday but that is bound to get better as we figure out his schedule more. On Saturday night we tried rice cereal for the first time - he loved it! He's gotten very good at eating it. Tonight he gobbled up the whole tablespoon full that Daddy fed him and wanted more - but we finished him off with a bottle and then an hour later he nursed for about a half an hour before heading to bed a few minutes ago. Here is a picture from Ian's first rice cereal experiment - we have video too but I haven't transferred it yet. Daddy was so proud of his little buddy - from talking to eating he is growing up fast!

Sad Day :(

Ian had to start daycare today - it was a sad day leaving him there. I've only called once to check in so far and they have told me he's doing fine and only got fussy when he wanted to eat. I think I heard him crying a bit when I left but I'm not sure. He was sort of asleep in his car seat when we arrived and woke up a bit while I was about to leave. He didn't really nap at all this morning. I think he knew something was up. But then again it was probably just Mummy overreacting. I have to keep telling myself that its fine, lots of people do it, but it just seems so unnatural to me not to have him with me. He's basically been with me for so long (except for the stint in the NICU) - I know that it will get easier but I keep asking myself why this is worth it? Oh right - we have to pay bills...

Eczema

So we had another doctor's appointment today because Ian is just so uncomfortable with the skin thing - he has eczema so the doctor gave us a steroid cream to buy and if it doesn't help this week then he will call in a perscription for us. Of course we had to take a naked picture yesterday of our baby - you can definitely see the skin all red and bumpy all over - poor kid! But he's going to improve now I just know it!

Yea Patriots

Ian watched the game yesterday - but his outfit only lasted until 2 PM - so I really don't think it brings the Pats luck - they are just too good. Well - Ian sort of watched the game - what he did was nap on Mummy's arm while Daddy worked on the desk. We found the pacifiers he likes at Danbury Hospital's Pharmacy. Thank goodness - so now we have one at home, one in the diaper bag and one going to daycare. He's gotten quite good at getting it in his mouth when sitting in his bouncy chair. The dry skin is persisting - poor kid scratches at himself when he can and when his nails get even a bit long he gets big scratches.

Playtime with Daddy

Daddy is the fun and games guy around here. Last night Ian got crazy with him as you can see below. This morning the therapist is coming to do his exercise and Mummy will get some more exercises to do with Ian. We are getting a little more routine around here. Ian did wake up at midight and again at 5 am but then slept again until 6:30. We played and ate and now he's sleeping again listening to baby beluga. He likes that song - it relaxes him. We've realized the only pacifier he likes is the one from the NICU - that is after buying three different types. So we have to figure out what kind it is and get more of them so Mummy can stop being the human pacifier. When he goes to daycare he will need something to calm him down.

Snowy morning

It snowed last night but not as much as they said it would. But of course schools are closed. Ian woke up at 5:30 AM anyway though. He's back to sleep now and will have to wake up soon to get ready to go to work. Yes its back to work for him this week. Here are some pictures from Saturday when we went for a walk in his new stroller. Note that he doesn't look too thrilled to be stuffed into his snowsuit...I think he's getting a bit big for it. We might need to go get something bigger! And we have found out that his hats are all getting too small - what a big head he has!

Ian's busy week

This week Mummy had to train her staff at work and so Grammy came down to stay and play with Ian. She got here Wednesday afternoon and just left this morning. Daddy and Mummy were nervous about the whole bottle thing - but Ian did really well and took bottles very nicely from Grammy - sometimes four ounces in one sitting! Our napping patterns are something else that are emerging. He usually wakes up and eats, gets changed and plays for a little bit in the mornings then has a short nap - maybe a half a hour or an hour - before waking up about 9 ish and then doing the same thing. Between 10 and 10:30 Ian falls asleep again for a longer nap. Same routine in the afternoon except that is my most alert time. Ian loves playing under my mat and Grammy found out that if she hangs my taggy ball from it he swings at it like a punching bag. The acne is clearing up and thanks to Lucas' parents' ideas my dry skin is definitely improved. But now my little nails are like daggers - even though they are relatively short I am getting stronger and when I am restless in my sleep I grab at my head and cut myself. Last night he drew so much blood that he looked like he had been in a street fight! Mummy made it through the week but being apart for over 10 hours at a time is really hard on both of us. Ian gave her big smiles though when she walked through the door last night. Today Daddy is fixing a pipe in the basement, Mummy is cleaning, and Ian is napping - later a walk around town is planned in my new stroller that the people at Daddy's work gave him - thanks RAC! Its a cool looking one - very manly - not girly at all.
Here are my scrapes from last night - notice the socks that my parents made me wear while sleeping... I'm not happy about them!

Ian's favorite things

Ian's quite a chatty guy lately. He likes to be talked to and have Daddy be silly with him. He loves his play mat and can spend lots of time alone under it. He also comes work with mommy and gets dressed up in his collared shirt and jeans to impress all the ladies. He's starting to reach for things and realizing that he can make things happen.

Non napper and acne again...

This is what I found when I went to get Ian from his nap - obviously not napping... and we have a case of acne again... geez... and dry skin on top of it...

New Year Baby

Ian had a great New Year's weekend. His Aunt Michelle and Uncle Jeff came to visit and then we had his baptism on Sunday - the Lynch clan came down for that and it was a very nice day. Monday Ian went shopping and got his first pair of shoes - blue with little white doggies on them so he can go around kicking people like his daddy and saying "woof woof". Ian's favorite things lately - eating his hands, holding his rings, dancing while you hold him, sitting and looking around and refusing the bottle. We still haven't mastered the bottle taking yet. The most he did was 3 ounces from Michelle. He doesn't take it at all from Mummy - and will take an ounce or two from Daddy but holds out for the real deal. Its been a nice week though with him. I can get used to it and wish I could be with him full time. Well I am with him full time but the days are counting down until he has to go to daycare and I am not looking forward to it. Maybe I will start to play the lottery and keep my fingers crosed. Here are some pictures that Michelle and Jeff took while they were here - they are good with the camera!
