Two nap day

Lately Ian has been only taking one nap from about 8 am to 9:30 am which isn't ideal because by 4 PM he's had it and is a fussy, whiney baby. I don't know how we did it but today was as TWO NAP DAY! Whooo Hooo! He did his typical 8-10, then we went for a LONG walk around town doing errands. We were back by 12 and had lunch, and by 1:15 he was doing his whiney thing when I changed his diaper. We sat for a while, read a book and he conked out on my lap. The transfer to the crib was a little iffy but we made it, patted his hiney and he was out at 1:30. Then the phone rang at 2:30 - darn telemarkers - and Ian woke. But that hour was great! I thought he'd do bedtime later. Nope - by 6 PM he was ready for bed and he was asleep by 6:30. The other big development here - Ian can do stairs. With help of course. He's gone up the whole flight twice by himself. We keep telling him there are toys up there and he motors right up them.

I love balloonies

Grammy and Grampy gave Ian a balloon during his visit last weekend. Its still going strong and like Aine, Ian likes to drag it all over the house.

What a week!

Well today is the year anniversary of Ian's homecoming from the NICU. He decided to celebrate this year by being discharged from the hospital again. We'd rather not celebrate every September 23rd by leaving a hospital and if he really wants to there are less expensive ways to make it happen rather than spending two nights at the Holy Family in Methuen. The long and the short of the weekend - Ian had a GREAT time with our playdate with Aine and Melissa, got to see Auntie Colleenie in her wedding dress while Melissa worked on it, visited with Uncle Eddie and Auntie Nan on Friday morning, Robbie and Katie (my friend Katina's two kids) in the afternoon (and he loved their playroom - it was kid heaven!), walked around the block with Grammy, raked the yard with Grampy, and had his sniffles develop into brochiolitis (hence the ER visit on Sunday morning which turned into his hospital stay). He's great now though. Daddy drove up to Methuen Monday morning and we all came back this afternoon after the doctor dicharged him this morning. The nurses will all miss "Mr. Blue Eyes" as they called him. A few other Mr. Ian highlights of the weekend - if you play music he will shake his booty, he giggles uncontrolably when tired, he can almost stand unassisted, and he now sort of stands on his head (he sort of does a downward dog yoga pose and puts his head down and looks between his legs- he did that a lot in the oxygen tent in the hospital).

PS- I have to say thank goodness I am still nursing the little guy - Sunday he was basically attached to me the whole time in the ER - which made him feel good and at least he was staying hydrated.

Kissy Kissy

Ian is good at giving kisses - he practices on Mr. Megga a lot. (Sidenote - the onesie he's wearing is a 6 month one from last winter. I think we can get a little more wear out of them since only the sleeves are a little short.)

Mr. No Nap

Ian has decided in recent days to not nap in the morning. Well - except for this morning when he was up at 4:40 AM and so he's back now for a nap- but its crazy. He wakes up at 5:30 ish and is TIRED but refuses to take a nap. He's ended up going down for one about 9:30 or 10 for 45 minutes to an hour which is it for the day. It makes life very hard to have him grumpy and awake all afternoon. But- boy does he like to play! And stand- we've caught him letting go without realizing and standing on his own. He's eating more and more Mommy and Daddy food. The only reason I do cereal anymore is to make sure he gets his iron. We are going to MA this week to visit Grammy and Grampy and will see some other friends when there. Daddy is staying here to work on the wall.

Fall day

Yesterday felt like a fall day - it was a cool morning spent playing inside before tots and tumbles which Ian liked even though he looks a little overwhelmed in the rocking thing. He LOVED the parachute thing. He likes enclosed spaces we have found. He hides under his bed peeking out of the bedskirt when you say Where's Ian? Then after a no nap afternoon we went to Lianna's soccer game where Ian napped in the carseat for a while. We won't be able to do that much longer but it was nice while it happened. He woke up to meet the doggies and have a little dinner. Then it was back home for a bath and bed.

Tots and tumbles

Ian starts his tots and tumbles class at the YMCA today. Cross your fingers that his naps cooperate and we actually make it there at 10:15. Yesterday he didn't nap all morning and we finally got in the car at 10 and he promptly fell asleep for over an hour doing errands. Right now we are on track for today- up at 5:15 and probably ready for a nap any minute now. Hes currently hitting Mr. Megga from the mega blocks truck Auntie Colleen and Uncle Ken gave him on the raditor in the office yelling DDDDDDD - not Da - just DDDDD- the d sound over and over. Sometimes he stops and gestures with his whole arm and goes GA to something. Not sure what that means yet I think it is just telling us something is there. Poor Mr. Megga - he's really being thrown around this morning.

Hair raising bathtime

Ian's hair is deceptive - its really quite long and Daddy likes to give him a crazy do when they do bathtime.
